Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi's B.A. (Hons.) History program, offered under the new Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), provides a comprehensive and research-oriented exploration of the past. This program goes beyond traditional rote learning, encouraging students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and a nuanced understanding of historical processes. The programme’s structure combines courses aimed at chronological understanding of Indian and Global history with courses that focus on socially and culturally relevant themes.
The curriculum is designed to be interdisciplinary and flexible, allowing students to delve deep into the subject while also exploring other academic fields. The FYUP structure includes a mix of core, discipline-specific elective, and generic elective courses, which gives students the opportunity to tailor their learning to their interests.
Vision Statement
The B.A. History Programme envisions nurturing critically engaged and historically aware students. The programme seeks to instill in its students critical thinking skills that aid analysis, evaluation and synthesis, as well as deep contextual knowledge of how the world came to be the way it is. The programme aims to develop informed, discerning citizens who can contribute to societal debates with wisdom and evidence derived from a sophisticated understanding of the past.
