He is an Ex-NCC cadet, 2 Bengal Air Sqn. NCC, Kolkata. He has qualified for NCC certificates ‘B’ and ‘C ‘examinations. He has been a best cadet during his undergraduate studies in 2005. He has completed the Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) with an ‘A’ grade at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. He also attended the attachment camp for best cadets at Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Hyderabad (2005), representing the NCC Directorate, West Bengal and Sikkim.
He completed the Pre-Commission (PRCN) course, SD-173, with an 'A' grade, at the NCC Officers Training Academy (OTA), Kamptee, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India (29 July - 09 October 2024) and was commissioned as "Lieutenant" by National Cadet Corps (NCC), Ministry of Defence, Government of India. During the course, he has undergone rigorous military training in various aspects of NCC administration and also, held the distinguished appointment as "Training Officer" (TO) of Shivaji Company.
His company at the academy, "Shivaji Company" won the coveted "DG NCC Banner" as the "Champion Company" in the course, winning four competitions, namely, "Volleyball Championship", "Basketball Championship", "Drill Competition" and "Theme Area Competition".
Lt. (Dr.) Benil Biswas was awarded the Gold Medal in the Volleyball Championship during the course.
