About Skill Development Centre (SDC)
The Skill Development Centre (SDC) was established through a University notification dated 30 June 2021, pursuant to a resolution adopted at the 31st meeting of the Board of Management on 25 May 2021. Established as a strategic initiative, the Centre is envisioned as a hub for nurturing a skilled, future-ready workforce capable of meeting the evolving needs of industry and society.
Aim and Purpose
The SDC is dedicated to conceptualising and delivering high-quality vocational and skill-based programmes that directly address existing and emerging skill gaps in the employable population. Its initiatives are carefully designed to support the demand–supply alignment of talent across multiple industry sectors.
A core mandate of the Centre is to ensure that all programmes are developed in accordance with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) notified by the Government of India, thereby ensuring national relevance, standardisation, and recognition of skills.
1. Mission, Vision and Objectives of the Centre
Mission:
To train and empower students of AUD and other stakeholders with industry-aligned skills that enhance employability, foster entrepreneurship, and contribute to the knowledge economy.
Vision:
To be a nationally recognized centre of excellence that bridges the skills gap between academia and industry, creating a dynamic ecosystem of skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and change-makers contributing to India's knowledge economy.
Objectives:
- Conduct skill gap analyses across emerging sectors and prioritize them for skill training of the students of AUD and other stakeholders in commensurate with industry needs.
- Build networks with Industry, Associations, NGOs, and Sector Skill Councils (SSC) for collaborative programmes
- Plan, Design and Develop competency-based training curricula aligned with NSQF levels.
- Organize skill training programmes for students and workforce to upgrade employability.
- Execute skill training programs to upgrade the knowledge and skills of different stakeholders, including students of AUD, as per their different needs.
- Set up institutional laboratories within AUD as well as collaborate with training partners, including industries, for skill training.
- Organise third-party assessment on skill training, including an industry-recognised certification process.
- Undertake placement activities after successful completion of skill training.
- Assess workers engaged in informal sectors under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) framework and certify them based on NSQF levels.
- Undertake research in the areas related to skill development strategies, entrepreneurship, employability, labour market and current skill trends, etc.
- Create pathways for international skill certification and global mobility.
