Ms. Bibinaz Thokchom completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Delhi University in Psychology. Her research interests entails in the areas of: Community Mental Health, Impact of Ethnic violence on the psychic well-being of the innocent civilians, Psychological functioning of the criminals, Psychology and judiciary & Psychology and politics. She has worked on the issues of domestic violence, sexual abuse, juvenile delinquency and tried to find linkages with various psycho-social milieus. Lately, she has also developed interest in ethnographic methods of studying culture.

Ms. Bibinaz has taught in undergraduate studies in Delhi University on Ad-hoc basis. Earlier she has worked with various non-profit organizations (NGOs) as mental health service provider on critical psycho-social issues. Her service also extended as Human rights activist in one of the Child Rights Centre in Delhi and played the role of a trainer for the Probation officers, public prosecutors and police personnel of ASI and lower ranks in Delhi police Department.

Spoke on “Impact of Armed violence on the psyche of the civilians” in the first consultative conclave on ‘Northeast India Women Initiative for Peace’ at India International Centre, New Delhi on 13 June 2009.
