Aim: The aim of this course is to offer participants an insight and tools to manage their research, research education, their work/life balance and collaborate with their supervisor.

Course Outcomes:

At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the process of doing an independent research
  • To critically analyze review of literature and identify research gap
  • To acquaint with the nuances of writing a research report

Brief description of modules/ Main modules:

In Supervised Study Course research scholars will be encouraged to undertake an independent study course for which appropriate supervision arrangement will be made.

Research scholar carry extensive review of the literature on the proposed research theme, an in-depth analysis of a particular sector/industry/product related to the proposed research, undertake a field project that may be required to explore the feasibility and define the scope of the proposed research or a study that is required to be carried to prepare the detailed Synopsis.

It could also be based on learning a specific methodology the candidate is required to learn to carry the proposed research (only if the methodology is not covered in compulsory research enabling courses offered to the candidates as part of the coursework).

As requirement of completing this course the candidate shall write a detailed essay or prepare a report/term paper of the work done.

Assessment Details with weights:

Candidates will be encouraged to publish the study undertaken in this course as a review paper or management case. The candidate would also be required to conduct a seminar on the completion of this course and present learning within the period of the coursework. Grade for the course will be determined by the course supervisor based on the participant’s commitment to work, discussions with the supervisor and combined evaluation of the written submission and seminar presentation.
