Pre-requisites:
Aim: This course intends to provide students at the undergraduate level with an introduction to the basic conceptions in the sub discipline of Sociology of Religion. Starting with an overview of the various approaches adopted by other social sciences and theology to the study of religion, the course intends to familiarize the student with the ideas of classical sociological thinkers. The intention overall is to enable the student to develop the necessary conceptual clarity for being better able to make Sociological sense of historical and contemporary events where religion has come to play an undeniably crucial role.
