Course Description: This course focuses on enabling student-teachers to interpret and adapt ICTs in education. The course will introduce the learners to the role, uses and limitations of ICT in education. The students will be familiarised with different forms of ICT in education, emerging technologies and their purposes in education, and ways in which ICT is used in teaching-learning and assessments. Through this course, the students will also develop ICT skills relevant for school teaching, while simultaneously engaging with the socio-economic and ethical issues/challenges involved in the use of technology in education in the Indian context, especially with children.
Course Objectives:
- To introduce the concept, nature, and scope of ICT in education
- To explore the relationship between the social-economic and ethical issues associated with the use of ICT
- To familiarise with various technological tools for teaching-learning- assessment processes.

Brief description of the modules:
Module 1: Introduction to (ICT) in Education
This module will focus on the meaning, nature, importance of information technology, communication technology and information and communication technology (ICT) and instructional technology. The unit also discusses some ways by which interactive and collaborative learning experiences could be implemented in the classroom.
Module 2: Emerging Technologies in Education
The use of technology in the educational spaces are diverse and evolving and have shaped the landscape of education to provide personalised, interactive and adaptive learning experiences for students. This module will also focus on ethical issues and safety in ICT especially related to Cyber security literacy and data protection, Online identity and privacy.
Module 3: ICT in Teaching-Learning & Assessment
This module will focus on the integration of Technological Knowledge, Pedagogical Knowledge and Pedagogical Content Knowledge as Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPCK). The module will also introduce different ways of assessment with ICT.
