Students from the School of Education Studies, Integrated Teacher Education Programmes (ITEP)/BABEd, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi performed at the 30th Foundation Day Celebrations of the National Council for Teacher Education on August 17, 2024 at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi. Their performances included experience sharing by two students from the first batch of ITEP and a traditional folk dance from Rajasthan. Two students of ITEP shared their experiences of their first year focusing around three questions— why did they choose ITEP? After being in the programme for one year, how their thinking about teacher education has changed? What is special about the ITEP programme at AUD? The thoughts of the students about their learnings and experiences in the programme were articulated in collaboration with their peers.

The dance performance by the students was based on Terah Taali - a traditional folk song and dance form originating from Rajasthan. This vibrant dance form is closely associated with the Kamad tribe. The term "Terah Taali" translates to "thirteen beats," referring to the rhythmic clashing of 13 manjiras (small cymbals) that the performers, typically women, play while seated on the ground. A Rajasthani folk heritage, Terah Taali song lyrics narrate tales of devotion, valour, and local legends, contributing to its popularity as a cultural performance at festivals and celebratory gatherings across Rajasthan. Today, while the Terah Taali is recognized as an important part of Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage, efforts are being made to preserve and promote it amidst the challenges posed by modernization and changing cultural practices. The adaptation being performed by AUD students, is set in the scene of a Rajasthan village and celebrates girls’ education and aspirations. The message by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, “I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which women have achieved” against the backdrop highlighted the theme of the performance.
