Specific requirements on the part of students who can be admitted to this course: All UG pass out students joining the MVoc Tourism & Hospitality Management programme with a basic degree specialised on Tourism & Hospitality. Students with UG degree and having work experience in the Tourism & Hospitality in specialised areas such as- F&B Services, MICE, Tour Manager and Catering Manager can also join in this course. Also aspirants with NSQF Level-7 certification will be eligible to join this course with UG Degree.

Current course in Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism Management is closely associated with the vision of AUD,Tourism and Hospitality industry being one of the leading industries in terms of employment, therefore the current course will focus on the skills which students need to develop their managerial capability as well as future research in the sector.

Current course in Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism Management is very much linked with the proposed programme of Masters in Vocation in Tourism and Hospitality management. This course will give the insight about the tourism and hospitality industry in terms of history, growth, operations and trends and will set a tone for the courses which the students will be taking in the subsequent semesters.

Summary: This course provides an introduction to the hospitality industry, descriptions of types of hotels, structures, classifications, etc. It also introduces and explains the importance of tourism, explaining the effects of supply and demand on the economy, culture and the environment.
Objectives:
- To be familiar with the concepts and tourism phenomenon as an industry.
- To understand the direct and indirect impacts of tourism criteria.
- To illustrate the relationship between hotels and tourism.
- To be familiar with the decision-making process and destination choice.

Overall structure: Week 1&2: At the outset, a brief foundation to Tourism and Hospitality will be discussed. It will further build on the characteristics, evolution and career in the tourism and hospitality sector
Week 3 and 4 will focus on the various aspects of the hotel industry operations as well as the F&B operations
Week 5 and 6 will discuss about the room division operations management, various concepts related to front office and housekeeping will be discussed
Week 7 will discuss about the food production basics such as:
- Identify the various food production operations
- Learn about various cuisines in India
- Understand the Kitchen layout
- Examine the latest trends in Food Production Operations
Week 8 will emphasise on tourism industry and focus on:
- Understand the various tourism concepts
- Learn about various tourists typologies
- Examine the various tourism components and history
- Identify the various Positive and Negative Impacts of Tourism
Week 9 will focus on Basic Tourism Services and its impact:
- Understand the passenger transport business
- Learn about travel agency management

Week 10 will talk about Tourism policy, planning and development:
- Analyse the role of government in tourism operations and growth
- Understand tourism by regions globally
- Explore various tourism resources
Week 11 will focus on Tourism Marketing and Product Planning:
- Learn about tourism marketing and its management
