Students with UG degree and having work experience in the Tourism & Hospitality in specialised areas such as- F&B Services, MICE, Tour Manager and Catering Manager can also join in this course. Also aspirants with NSQF Level-7 certification will be eligible to join this course with UG Degree.

Computer Applications for Tourism and Hospitality Management is mostly designed to create an ability amongst students in explaining how to apply a particular information technology to a problem in the tourism industry.

This Computer Application Course fits the M VOC programme as it will provide industrial based competencies required to produce successful learners who can be the first choice for employers.
Course Details:
Summary: This course will help in understanding latest trends in information and computer technology and will also provide an orientation about the increasing role of management information system in managerial decision making with the help of computers and how information is processed, stored and utilized. This course will also provide knowledge on the use of computers to facilitate both the flow and management of information in the industry, the flow and capture of information related to providing tourism and hospitality services; constant changes in information technology and their impact on the channels of distribution; the interdependence and cross-linking of the industry’s systems along with the emergence of the Internet as another channel of information flow.
Objectives: The objective of this course is to acquaint the students with the application of computers and information systems in the tourism and hospitality industry.
- After successful completion of this course, the students will be able to:
- Explain how to apply a particular computer and information technology and toolsto a problem in the tourism industry.
- Understand how an information system supports different segments of the tourism industry.
- Develop relevant computer skills as suitable to the role of a manager.
- Gain a good practical understanding on how to use spreadsheets and databases to solve business problems.
- Understand and be familiar with terminology relating to the information technology.
- Be familiar with Transaction Processing Systems, Management Information Systems, and Decision Support Systems within the hospitality and tourism industry.
- Understand Enterprise Resource Packages, Supply Chain Management, and Customer Relations Management software.
- Understand to use the Internet or corporate intranets to conduct commerce, provide content, create communities, work collaboratively, train employees, and manage employees remotely.
- Learn about cybercrimes and frauds with identification of security issues affecting information systems.
- Understand the basics of artificial intelligence in the context of tourism industry.
