  • All UG pass out students joining the MVoc Tourism & Hospitality Management programme with a basic degree specialised on Tourism & Hospitality. Students with UG degree and having work experience in the Tourism & Hospitality in specialised areas such as- F&B Services, MICE, Tour Manager and Catering Manager can also join in this course. Also aspirants with NSQF Level-7 certification will be eligible to join this course with UG Degree.
  • No. of students to be admitted (with justification if lower than usual cohort size is proposed): A batch size of about 20 students + EWS and Supernumerary seats.

This Destination Planning and Management Course fits the M VOC programme as it will provide industrial based competencies required to produce successful learners who can be the first choice for employers and establish their own ventured hence contributing to Make in India Vision of India.

Course Details:

Summary: The Destination Planning and Management focuses on the planning, development, management, and regeneration of destinations.Tourism continues to be a major component of the global economy and has now become an established academic discipline, with roots in geography, economics, sociology, planning and business. Destination Planning and Management is designed for people who are interested in the tourism sector and have a particular interest in destination planning and management. The modules provide a broad range of knowledge and skills that are required by tourism managers and policy-makers. The course delivers a broad based understanding of the sector and there are opportunities to undertake placements and gain practical experience, including a practical work module.

Objectives:

  • To facilitate the assessment of the tourism potential of a destination
  • To prepare tourism development plan as well as marketing techniques to market a particular destination
  • To familiarize with the destination branding practices
  • To introduce advanced analysis and research in the field of destination development.
  • To Understand the key issues in sustainable tourism planning

Expected learning outcomes:

  • Understand the wider context of tourism and evaluate the social, ethical and environmental impacts across a range of case studies.
  • Assess practices and professional roles in the context of varied disciplines (marketing, management, technology, development, planning and sustainability literatures).
  • Develop core skills and experiences required by the tourism sectors, i.e. communication skills, the ability to work independently and self critically, the ability to work in teams to engage in collaborative problem solving.
  • Use critical and creative thinking and analysis to challenge theoretical ideas and practice in tourism planning and management.
  • Use reflective practice and teamwork skills to develop a professional profile (networking, volunteering, work experience).
  • Critically appraise creative and entrepreneurial solutions to the management of a destination.

Module I: - Introduction to Destination Planning and Mangement and core concepts of destination Management systems
