Aims and Objectives:
This course is the foundational basis for heritage, identified as an asset that should be preserved for future generations and manifest its significance in public and private consciousness. The course aims to familiarize doctoral students with the significant philosophical and methodological issues in producing valid knowledge of heritage studies. It focuses on the specificities of heritage research in the context of general theories of knowledge and research paradigms to enable the utilization of heritage components as a resource for skill-based activity.
The research intends that the doctoral student's learning will entail engaging with the methodological and theoretical assumptions of different approaches to heritage studies. The course will help doctoral students understand the various perspectives to actualize how our knowledge of reality shapes our interpretation of it. The research paradigm shapes the choice of methodology and influences the research process and outcomes. Understanding the research paradigms will teach the researchers the correct values to adopt the most appropriate data collection, analysis, and interpretation method.
