Course Objectives/Description:
Interpersonal relations and group dynamics are most important aspects which affect the performance of people in any organization. It is not only to appreciate their importance, but it is equally necessary that organizational members and leaders develop the skills to effectively interact with each other as well as in groups and teams. This course deals with topics towards understanding of personality and self in interpersonal relations. The course deals with the importance of team work and group processes in the work context, how to manage and resolve conflicts to build an effective team and team leadership. The objective of this course is to introduce the practices and principles of interpersonal communication in both dyadic and group settings
Course Outcomes:
On successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Understand and handle the stages of team development and design an effective team in terms of size, level of interdependence, and trust.
- Turn a group of individuals into collaborative team that achieve high performance through shared mission and collective responsibility.
- Break down personal barrier that may stand in the way of enhancing their level of interpersonal relation in team.
- Able to understand types and causes of conflict in teams.
- Develop capacity to manage conflicts.

Creating a balance team; Establish team roles
Unit 5: Stages of team building
Issues at each stage of team building
Unit 6: Managing Intergroup Conflict
Nature and causes of conflict; Conflict management strategies; importance of super ordinate goals
BUnit 7: developing skills for team management
Leading and building team; Skills for managing self-managed teams, project teams, virtual teams; Building effective teams
